PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOUR CHILDREN WON’T BE ATTENDING MEADOWS FOR 0809
If your child will not be attending Meadows next year, please let me know. We are overenrolled at Grades K, 1, 3 and 5. Some of those on the waiting list are siblings, which will pose a significant challenge to these families, who may end up having children attending two schools. Please leave a message at 318-7345, EXT. 5660.

Also, if you learn of anyone moving during the summer, I would appreciate so much hearing about this. Sometimes when there is a last minute job transfer or other move, the last thing parents think about is notifying the school. Thanks so much!

THOSE EVER LOVIN’ DOTS!
It has worked extremely well for supervision of children this year for parents to stand back from the line-up area so we will continue this procedure next year. For the first two weeks of school, however, I believe that our first graders will need their parents nearby as a transition. So, parents of all children are invited to join their children on the dots from August 27 – September 5. Beginning Monday, September 8, parents will again stand back from the dots. Thanks for your cooperation with this procedure.

SCHEDULE FOR OPENING OF SCHOOL ON AUGUST 27, 2008
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Children will attend school according to the following schedule:

  • K-PM 11:25 – 2:45

Back-to-School Night for Grades 1 – 5 will take place on Thursday, September 11. The times will be:

  • Grades 1 – 3 6:00 – 6:45 pm

A PPIC Special Meeting will be held on July 10, 2008, at 6:30 pm at the City Council Chambers. The PPIC will address Meadows and Robinson Elementary School Traffic Studies and make recommendations to the City Council. PROPOSED BAN ON PLASTIC BAGS

Planet Pals invite you to bring your friends and children to the Manhattan Beach City Council Meeting on July 1, 2008, at 6:30 pm. The City Council will be considering a ban on plastic bags. According to the statistics presented by our Planet Pals representatives, there are more plastic bags in the oceans than plankton! As a beach community, we are the most affected by the bags because they are polluting our ocean and killing our wildlife

There is a chance for you to speak if you would like. Speakers would have two minutes and you or your children are invited to speak if you feel strongly about this.
