PTA, MBEF – What’s the Difference?

The Manhattan Beach Education Foundation (MBEF) provides complementary programs and services which benefit Meadows. The PTA and MBEF are separate but equally vital entities in the support of your child’s education.

In a nutshell, PTA funds pay for school site programs, events and campus improvements on a year-to-year basis. MBEF pays for personnel and programs at all sites, K through 12, that would not exist without this private, long-term funding. PTA pays for library books and supplies. MBEF pays the salary of the Library Media Specialist.

Another example: PTA pays for the computers, hardware and software in the Computer Lab. MBEF pays the salary of the Computer Specialist. Similarly, PTA pays for library books and supplies. MBEF pays the salary of the Library Media Specialist.

Certainly, the Manhattan Beach School District’s funding is complicated, yet we are consistently one of the highest-achieving districts – fifth in the state. For more detailed funding information, check out these websites: www.mbusd.org and www.mbef.org.
